On the soil extracting ceremony
On the soil extracting ceremony at the memorial cemetery “The Soviet Field of Glory”
In preparation for the upcoming 75th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War the Russian Ministry of Defense initiated the military-patriotic action “The Road of memory”.
In that regard the solemn soil extracting ceremony took place on 12 November at the Dutch memorial cemetery “The Soviet Field of Glory” where 856 soldiers of the Red Army – participants of the battles on the Great Patriotic War’s front lines – rest.
During the event defense attaché Colonel Milhail Klimuk handed over to the Russian Ambassador to the Netherlands Alexander Shulgin the pouch with the soil which then will be delivered to Russia. Numerous soil samples collected in this way will be placed in artillery shells that will be installed in the historical and memorial compound of the Russian Armed Forces’ main temple.
The employees of the Russian Embassy in the Netherlands, the mayor of Leusden, ambassadors of CIS countries, military attaches, compatriots, Dutch journalist Remco Reiding, media representatives, as well as Archimandrite Nikon of the Church of Mary Magdalene in the Hague participated in the ceremony.
