Concert of Contemporary Russian Choir Music in Rotterdam

On 11 November the contemporary choir music ensemble "Altro coro" under the direction of the rector of the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music A.Ryzhinsky gave a performance in the Orthodox Church of Alexander Nevsky in Rotterdam.

The concert "Masterpieces of Russian spiritual music: from Mikhail Glinka to Alfred Schnittke" was held.

The event was organized with the support of the Russian Embassy in the Netherlands as well as the Russian House in Brussels and the Russian Orthodox Church.

Works by M.Glinka, P.Tchaikovsky, N.Rimsky-Korsakov, S.Rachmaninoff, G.Sviridov, A.Schnittke and other great composers were performed.

The concert, held as part of the European tour of “Altro coro”, was a huge success among compatriots and the Dutch. The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral was not able to accommodate everyone.

“Altro coro” is a student ensemble of the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music, which is the winner of nine international competitions. One of its main objectives is to popularize rarely performed or unknown choir works. The ensemble regularly participates in various music festivals and gives its own concerts in Russia and abroad.
