On the Opening of the “Dutch Masters” Exhibition in Amsterdam


October 6, 2017. An official opening ceremony of the new “Dutch Masters” exhibition was organised in the “Hermitage Amsterdam”. For the first time in history pictures by Dutch artists from the collection of the Hermitage in Saint Petersburg are exhibited in the Netherlands. The recognised “jewel” of the exhibition are 6 masterpieces by a great Dutch artist – Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn, including the famous “Flora” and the “Young Woman with Earrings”, as well as the “Punishment of a Hunter” by Paulus Potter and the recently restored “Nieuwmarkt in Amsterdam” by Bartholomeus van der Helst.

The ceremony was visited by the Minister of Education, Culture and Science of the Netherlands J.Bussemaker, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands and the diplomatic corps, the city authorities of Amsterdam, NGOs and prominent cultural figures.

The Ambassador of Russia to the Netherlands Alexander Shulgin was an honoured guest of the event.
