On the Exhibition by Pavel Vaan in the Embassy

October 6, 2017. An exhibition of the paintings by a Russian art photographer of Dutch origin, Pavel Vaan, was organised in the Embassy.

The exhibition was visited by heads and representatives of diplomatic missions in the Netherlands, compatriots and mass media. The event was opened with a speech of the Ambassador of Russia to the Netherlands, Alexander Shulgin.

A series of pictures united under the common name “The Russian Beauties” demonstrates the desire of the artist to reveal the inner personality of common Muscovites, “outside time and space”, without any reference to their social or professional background.

The paintings combine the elements of photography and painting. The individual technique of Pavel Vaan allows creating a “3D image” and achieving the “effect of presence” of the characters in the room. The innovative methodology allows to classify the works by Pavel Vaan as modern art, whereas the content of the pictures reflects the best traditions of the classical Russian painting school.
